Saw teeth bite with pressure. The tooth bite is according to its shape. Thus, rip and crosscut teeth are shaped differently to perform different tasks. Wear lowers the tooth pressure by blurring the shape of the tooth. High tooth pressure and long tooth life are desired.

The Edo crosscut teeth and the graded rip teeth appeared in old Japan. These were high pressure teeth which helped to tension the blade straight in pull sawing. A clever method was devised to set hardened teeth (close to the hardness of the saw file). The saws could and were made on machines but the cost of maintenance sharpening became prohibitive.

How sharpening was bypassed
Japanese, American and German technologies were applied to reduce the cost of the blades to less than one time cost of filing and the tooth life was extended many times longer than saws that can be filed. The makers of ZETA™ saws supply other saw manufactures with saw blades which attests to their excellence.

The straight handle
The long straight handle helps to pull straight by reducing the pulling error, establishes a line of sight for sawing alignment and can be counter wrung for steadiness. The short straight handle balances better with the fine joint and smaller blades.

The angled handle
The hacksaw handle is angled to produce high pressure for sawing metal. When accuracy is secondary, try the hacksaw handle to make new, worn or damaged blades more aggressive.

The ZETA™ system
ZETA™ handles and blades can be quickly interchanged according to the need.

The ZETA™ saw compliments the power saw
The inherent weight, vibration and noise limits the use of the hand held power saws. It is easier to saw square with the power miter saw but the rooms are seldom square. Overhead sawing may be safer and the depth of cut is usually greater than power saws. Compliment the power saws with the ZETA™ hand saws to work safer, better and often faster. (updated 3/4/06)
